The third version of the Festival for Water, Mountains and Life was held from October 4 to 6, 2024 in Mocoa, Putumayo in the Colombian Amazon. This festival organized by the Guardians of the Andean Amazon collective, featured the participation of educational and territorial defense experiences that seek to raise awareness and mobilize citizens in the care of their ecological heritage and social fabric.

The main objective of the festival was to make visible the importance of caring for the Amazon foothills as a biological corridor and key point of water interconnectivity between the Andes and the Amazon. As well as raising awareness and promoting the construction of a culture of peace with nature through music, theater, dance and words about the care of the territory against extractivism, the pollution of its waters and territorial planning. During the event, cultural and artistic activities, exchange of experiences, discussions and territorial tours were carried out that allow participants and visitors to learn, from the voice of the communities, their realities and dreams that the territories live.

The jaguar (Phantera onca) as guardian of the jungle and the rock cockerel (Rupicola peruvianus) as protector of the water, were the guest animals in this year’s festival. Participants shared experiences about its care and monitoring to inspire the inhabitants of the territory to be guardians of its biodiversity. At the core of the event was to raise awareness that it is possible to live in peace with nature.
